Philharmonic Orchestra: Prokofiev
Kenneth Myer Auditorium
The Ian Potter Southbank Centre
43 Sturt Street
Prokofiev’s beloved children’s musical fairy-tale; Peter and the Wolf will be the first of two Philharmonic concerts in semester 2. Prokofiev wrote not only the music but also the story of a child who disobeys his grandfather, by going into the meadow, and confronts and then captures a wolf. The piece serves as an excellent ‘young person’s guide to the orchestra’ as each character in the story is represented by a particular motif played on a specific instrument. The narrator will be Cameron Taylor.
